    Spring Concert 2007

    Friday, May 18, 2007, 09:01 AM [General]

Below is the Spring Concert this year. I'd like to apologize about the poor quality up front. This is the first time I've ever used this camera and it was a learning experience for me. The batteries "kinda" went dead right after Christian's class finished their performance, so what I tried to do was capture clips from the other classes (6th, junior high, and high school) and piece them all together. It's not great but will give you some idea of jus how well the 5th grade did in comparison. They did EXCELLENT! They've worked so hard this year. They were all looking forward to the Arbuckle Wilderness Contest trip, but because some moron felt the need to threaten the schools it was canceled. There's always next year tho and they'll have a years experience under their belts!

Jus in case you dont feel the need to watch let me jus say...MY BABY GOT THE AWARD FOR MOST IMPROVED!!! Only two awards were given out to their class, Christian (most improved) and Josie (outstanding) Every once in a while you'll hear scratches or squeals this is when the camera screamed that it was going to automatically shut down lol I did my best to cut them out! Tick I am not! lol

Well I hope you enjoy at least listening to it since the picture isnt too clear.

    TAX SEASON AGAIN *SIGH*

    Wednesday, January 24, 2007, 01:13 PM [General]

Tax season is upon us once again and I've been lacking blog inspiration so I thought I'd share a few tax tips and hints. At least the major ones brought to my attention and places you can go that walk you thru doing your own tax return by e-file and places you can go to print off forms you need for free. Keep in mind this is US taxes only, at least til I get better informed on Canada taxes.

First I received an email this morning about the new TELEPHONE TAX REFUND. This is a TRUE credit you can use to receive the refund, however I'm thinking some are under the impression that its if you ever had a phone, let me clear some things up for you...Any individual, business or nonprofit organization that paid the tax for long distance or bundled service billed after Feb. 28, 2003 and before Aug. 1, 2006 is eligible to request the refund. This means if you didnt have LONG DISTANCE or BUNDLED SERVICE during this time you arent allowed to request the refund. The refund is between $30-60. There are 2 ways you can go about figuring the amount. First you can go with the standard amount, which would be my personal choice seeing as the second way is the much more involved and time cost consuming. With the standard amount you check to see how many exemptions you have and jus play a matching game:

    • one exemption, the standard refund amount is $30
    • two exemptions, the standard refund amount is $40
    • three exemptions, the standard refund amount is $50
    • four exemptions or more, the standard refund amount is $60

The second way is to find every bill from Feb. 28, 2003-Aug. 1, 2006 and add up all the federal excise tax paid on all long distance/service bundled packages or it could be listed as toll charges. IF using this way you will need to attach a FORM 8913 My suggestion to you, as a tax preparer, if you use someone such as Jackson Hewitt or H & R Block go with the standard method. Places like this charge for EACH additional form you file. Not to mention the fact that that is 41 months of old bills you'd have to locate and chances are really good that after adding all of it up you'd find that it is less then the standard amount anyway. I'll add some pictures of the actual forms so you can click and check to make sure you've added it in the right spot on the right form. You can click the telephone tax refund at the beginning of the 2nd paragraph and it will take you to the IRS site where it has ALL the information to a Q&A about this refund. Good luck.

I can not begin to tell you how many customers I've spoken with that have said H & R Block is informing them they can only carry 2 of their children, regardless of how many they have. One word to this...WRONG! I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here thinking maybe they're jus not explaining this as well as they should. You carry EVERYONE in your household that you financially support. However, only 2 of the children will be used when figuring out the EIC (Earned Income Credit) But jus think of what you're cheating yourself out of if you dont list everyone...$1000 exemption for dependant, this exemption is extremely important because it LOWERS your taxable income, the child tax credit and the sales tax relief credit (OK) which is $40 for every member of the household. There are certain guidelines as to whether or not you can use them as dependants.

Qualifying child--To be your dependent (defined earlier), a person must be either your qualifying child or your qualifying relative (defined next). Generally, a person is your qualifying child if that person:
    • Is your child, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of any of them,
    • Lived with you for more than half of the year,
    • Did not provide more than half of his or her own support for the year, and
    • Was under age 19 at the end of the year (or was under age 24 at the end of the year and a student, or was any age and permanently and totally disabled).

Qualifying relative--To be your dependent (defined earlier), a person must be either your qualifying child (defined earlier) or your qualifying relative. Generally, a person is your qualifying relative if that person:

    • Lives with or is related to you,
    • Does not have $3,300 or more of gross (total) income,
    • Is supported (generally more than 50%) by you, and
    • Is neither your qualifying child nor the qualifying child of anyone else.

On a side note I'd like to point out that if you are married and have chosen for whatever reasons to file seperately, unless you have a legal form of seperation or have been seperated for longer then 7 months and are no longer living together you have to file MFS (Married Filing Seperately) in doing so you are no longer eligible for the EIC. So keep this in mind when filing.

Off hand I cant think of anything else to point out so I'll add some links you can go to to check things out.

Telephone Tax Refund: Where and what do I put it?
    Form 1040-Line 71 Form 1040A-Line 42 Form 1040EZ-Line 9

Not filing a return? You can still get the telephone tax refund by filing out a Form 1040EZ-T

Extensions e-filed for free.
Well I hope this helps a little. I know its lengthy but I do believe its worth it. Good luck this tax season if you have any questions I'd be more then happy to try and answer them and if I dont know them I'll do my best to either find out or point you in the right direction.
Another side note: This is mostly to do with your federal return NOT the state return.
    Good luck.

    THE GRILL!!!

    Monday, January 1, 2007, 05:57 PM [General]

I thought I would take a few minutes and post some of my favorite Christmas presents that I got this year, so bare with me or find another page to view :-) lol

Below is a couple pictures of the old grill...I've had this grill for over 10 years, and yes it looks it! No matter how many times I've cleaned and cleaned it jus would never come completely clean. It finally caught on fire a few months back (lol yes it was that bad) so it had to be retired. I prayed and prayed for a new one and if you continue on reading then you'll see that I have the most wonderful parents that ever graced this earth because they well you'll see ...If you click on the picture it will open to a new window to show a bigger picture.

This lovely gorgeous thang is the NEW IMPROVED GRILL! I used it for the first time today! God how I've missed having a wonderfully COOKED juicy bbq'd steak!! I love this thang! And I shall endeavor to use it every weekend! A side note on the tank, that propane tank is over 20 yrs old, guess my next investment will be a new one lol

The picture below is some of the awesome stuff I got from Ralphy, the little bear has been named Smoke Jr. because I have a huge Saint Bernard Dog named Smoke :-) Thank you Ralphy Love I love it all!

The first picture is my new OU comforter that my parents got me. My OU purse and wallet my wonderful son got me, he also got me a Dale Earnhardt collectible ornament to match my Tony Stewart ones and the flat corded desk phone I was wanting. Oh and a wonderfully thoughtful Hot Cocoa maker, which I love and have used at least a dozen times since opening it! I didnt get pictures of those last things tho. The Tony Stewart ice chest, remote control car and heart necklace (which has my birthstone and Christians birthstone) are some more things from my parents...

My parents also got my son a new bedroom set, which he loves!! I wont go into detail on everything the kid got I'd be here all night lol He did get the Eragon playstation2 game from Santa he was wanting, along with a new travel DVD player, a Nintendo SP with about 4 games and a case, those are the major things anyway oh and I almost forgot he got this HUGE HUGE Tony Stewart beanbag which I really thought about beating him up for but I thought its Christmas he's my kid I really shouldnt be like that hey but I did tell him that the minute I see it get dirty it was so mine!! lol I think he felt sorry for me cause he said we could have joint custody of it, he has it in his room part of the time and I have it in mine the rest lol

So there ya have it, it was an awesome Christmas! Hope everyone had their own awesome Christmas. Oh that blue hippo in the picture by the bed is the hippo my dad bought for me the year I first heard my favorite Christmas song...I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas :-)

Its the first day of the New Year, hope everyone that celebrated did it safely! Best wishes to everyone, have a safe and wonderful New Year filled with lots of love, laughter and happiness! Remember to smile, I'm watchin! xoxox
